We are not just numbers; we have a connection with the Latine community.
2PuntosPlatform is an independent hyperlocal multimedia outlet that began as a podcast during the pandemic and is now a constantly evolving space that produces accurate, inclusive, and accessible information for the Latine community in Philadelphia. Our work amplifies the voices of those who have migrated to the city and addresses relevant issues that help them navigate life here, with a special focus on immigrant women and, more recently, second- and third-generation Latinos. We produce 2PuntosPodcast, monthly conversations with our founder, Emma Restrepo, about stories of the diaspora, border crossings, business, art, and the contributions of Latines to this society, without falling into stereotypes. Through VozColectiva, our first community newsroom made up of four Latina immigrants—Zulma Guzmán, Mercy Mosquera, Tannia Solís, and Evelyn Toriz—we exclusively cover domestic violence and distribute information on social media, community channels, and non-traditional spaces such as restaurants and beauty salons, work that was recognized with the LION Publishers award for best editorial product in 2023. With 2PuntosLocalNews and our collaborations on initiatives such as the Philadelphia Journalism Collaborative, we create and share content on key issues for the community, build trusting relationships with other media outlets, and expand our reach to serve and empower the entire Latino population of the city.
