What We Do
2PuntosPlatform is a bilingual, hyperlocal, multimedia outlet covering the Latine community in Philadelphia through our reporting and collabortions. Our work uplifts Latines who have migrated to the city and aims to serve them in creating a better life here.
Across our work, we use the term “Latines” as an inclusive term for all genders. Our Latine audience is diverse: rural and urban origin, young people and adults, people of different genders, and educational and economic levels, and this language helps us reflect that.
We are committed to building inclusive and respectful narratives of Latine immigrants by directly engaging with the community. Our work includes 2PuntosPodcast, a podcast sharing voices of the Latine community, 2PuntosLocalNews covering local topics in Philadelphia, and VozColectiva, a newsroom made up of four Latina immigrant women, which covers domestic violence prevention.
From our platform’s beginning, we’ve applied approaches to our journalism as a way to help the people we produce journalism for to navigate their new lives more effectively.
Our Story
After more than 15 years reporting in Philadelphia’s Latine neighborhoods, 2PuntosPlatform’s founder, Emma Restrepo, realized that the city’s mainstream media did not cover the issues that she heard about in the communities, many without opportunity or allies in their fight for a better present and future.
From there, the radio program ParaTiMujer was created, covering stories for the city’s Latine community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the show became 2PuntosPodcast, evolving to cover the perspectives of Latine migrants from their countries of origin and new homes. 2PuntosPodcast would grow to become 2PuntosPlatform, expanding our team and local news coverage to create content that drives change.
Today, 2PuntosPlatform is a 501c3 non-profit organization with an expansive network of Latines who make up its team, board members, reporters, community, audience, collaborators and voices. 2PuntosPlatform has been locally and nationally recognized for its work and frequently collaborates with other local newsrooms.
