Latino Local News Collaborative

A collaboration that aims to make voting engagement, social rights, and democracy a common topic in Latino families
In July 2023, the Solutions Journalism Network’s Local Media Project launched the Latino Local News Collaborative (LLNC), a partnership among hyperlocal Latino media outlets: La Raza (Chicago), La Esquina Texas (Houston), Philatinos Radio, and 2PuntosPlatform (Philadelphia). The initiative aims to make voter engagement, social rights, and democracy everyday conversations in Latino households by exploring electoral participation through community-based research.
Each outlet conducted localized surveys to better understand political attitudes and voting barriers—particularly among first- and second-generation immigrants. In addition to the research, the collaborative produces a monthly bilingual radio program and publishes articles across their platforms to share findings and spark dialogue. By linking Latino communities across three states, LLNC offers a grassroots, nuanced perspective on the Latino vote and continues to build trust, insight, and momentum ahead of the upcoming election year.
